It's ours, it's officially ours. We move into it in about 2.5 weeks. Does that seem fast? Well, we'll have the keys for a few weeks, so we can make small trips and stretch it out. Wow, I can't believe we're not going to live in an apartment anymore... No more noisy neighbors vacuuming at 11:30pm. No more parking space fights. We'll have a yard and everything. It hasn't really sunk in yet, but I've already started making lists. That's how I deal with things--lists. They're the best!!!
Anyway, happy anniversary to us, we get a house!
Today Dinomyn and I were playing with his trains and listening to the radio and the old "Lolli-pop" song came on. He went crazy. He started yelling "pop, Pop, POP!!!" He loved it! If you've following this blog, it was his first word. He's now added "hot" and "truck" to that list. Still, pop is his favorite. He's started asking for lollipops when we're not even at our house. It's no longer the cabinet that acts as a stimulant for the behavior. It's the memory of a lollipop that provokes him to ask for one. Pretty much all candy is now a pop. He loves being able to communicate with us, and I'm enjoying it, too. Now I just need him to figure out a few hundred more words...
We found a house that we think we're going to get. It's across from the Creamery on Ninth, near my mom's house. It's a little expensive, but for a 4 bedroom, 3 bath it's incredible! We think Dinomight's brother, Pectorals, is going to live in the basement suite and help us with the rent. It's got a two car garage, a jaccuzi tub in the Master Bathroom, room for an office in the third bedroom, and a yard!!!
The gallery is down that we usually post Dinomyn's pictures on, so I'm going to post a few here in the meantime. I had a hard time narrowing down the pictures I wanted to post...there are just so many cute ones!!!
Here are the lucky winners:

Dinomyn in his new favorite play place, the kitchen sink. He likes playing with the water and "washing" his plastic dishes on the windowsill above him. If you're wondering why he's mostly naked, it's been between 99-105 degrees for the last 2 weeks and we're practically baking here.

Here's my studly son in his new sunglasses. He only keeps them on for a minute or so, then tries to put them on me, Dinomight, or one of his stuffed animals. You'll notice the nakedness once again. I'm telling you, it's freaking hot here and all we have is a window unit swamp cooler.

In this one we're about to leave for the pool at 7 peaks. We bought season passes for $40 (full price is $120) and we've been heading over there almost every day while Dinomight was out of work. We'd stay for about an hour and really enjoy ourselves and cool off. Trips to the pool have the added benefit of wearing Dinomyn out so he wants a nap when we get home. It's great!
On his head you'll see his new baseball hat. I think it really makes him look like a big kid. He's 18 months now and we went to Nursery for the first time yesterday. He did great! He didn't care whether I was there or not. He knows the kids from the weekly mother's groups we have, and he loved playing with the toys. He even learned how to climb up a 3-step plastic slide, sit down, and go down it all by himself!!! No help from me! What a big boy he's becoming.
His new word is "hot" in relation to his food and the water he plays with in the sink.
We were holding off on spending money for the last 2 months while Dinomight was unemployed. Now he has his job back and he starts on Monday. To celebrate we've been going out this week and getting lots of things. Some new clothes (dress and casual) for Dinomight and me, a slip cover for our couch, a wooden train set with table for Dinomyn for Christmas, a bunch of snacks from Costco, we've been going out for dinner and lunch a lot, going out to movies, and basically splurging. It has been so much fun!
We went to see Superman Returns in 3-D IMAX the other night. Boy was that an experience! It was awesome!!! Only about 5 parts of the movie were in 3-D, and they each lasted for 5-10 minutes. No longer do you use the blue/red 3-D glasses, they're now hard plastic like sunglasses and you have to give them back because they cost like $50. It was really fun to see it like that, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good time.
It's kind of sad, though, because now I'm losing my play buddy and my car and I don't look forward to the 100+ degree heat that's coming up. Looks like we'll be stuck inside or at the library for the next few weeks. That's ok, though, because we've been doing so much outside the house that Dinomyn and I haven't had a lot of play time. We need to reconnect and I'm looking forward to that. Maybe we can learn some new words and start identifying colors and animals. He's such a happy kid most of the time, that it's not so much a chore to be around him as a comedy act. I just know he's going to grow up to be a class clown or a ham.
For the last few weeks he's been saying "this" and "that" in commanding tones, letting us know what he wants. Now, however, Dinomyn has moved on to his first noun. Can you guess what it is? No, not XBox or Linux, although it is Dinomight related...it's "pop". As in lolli-pop. He knows which cabinet I keep them in and he's started pointing to the cabinet and saying "bop". I'm such a sucker (no pun intended) and I'll give him one because I'm so excited that he can talk finally. We've been waiting a long time for this. He babbles constantly and we can't wait to see what he's actually talking about. His babbling sounds like real words and sentences, just in Korean or something. It's not "ma-ma-ba-ba-la-la" stuff. It's more like "Digger-oo-my-shalom-tra-fka". Or "Maher-shal-al-hash-baz". Maybe that's where he got his name...some kid babbling.
Anyway, hooray for Dinomyn! His first word is candy-realted, but with a dad like Dinomight can you blame him? That man's got a whole mouth full of "sweet teeth".
I realize that it's been awhile since I've blogged and I am sad about that. I ran into Age yesterday and was able to have a nice conversation with him because I'd kept up with his life on his blog. We chatted about mutual friends, citing their blogs for information. It made me sad that no one really knows what's going on with me because I haven't been keeping up with my blog. It's not like nothing happens to me...just last week we made a 12 hour drive to Northern California for Dinomight's grandpa's funeral. I could blog about that. Having a 17 month old in a car for that long is incredibly difficult. Dinomight is currently out of work, but there's a chance he'll be hired back at the company he was previously working for...I could blog about that. We started watching the first season of Lost yesterday, I could blog about that. We finished Battlestar Galactica yesterday, I could blog about that.
I think I'm going to blog more often. I miss it, and there's plenty to blog about. Maybe I'll post pictures of Dinomyn, too, he's getting really cute! Only 3 more weeks until he goes into Nursery. I can't believe I'm old enough to have a kid in Nursery. Incredible.

Dinomyn actually sleeping on the drive across Nevada.

At the black sand beach at Fort Bragg. He loved it!!!
