Ahh the weekend. A time to sleep in (unless you have a kid), a time to relax (unless you have a kid), a time to get things done around the house (unless you have a kid). For some reason Seamus just doesn't understand the concept of "the weekend." To him it's just like any other day. In fact, it's like a bonus day since Daddy gets to stay home and play with us. So this morning he woke up at 6:30 am ready to go. Daddy was going to be home today, so why not get a jump on the playing and get up early? I went in and gave him some books and told him it wasn't time to wake up yet. That works occasionally, and thankfully it worked this morning. He looked at his books and sang to himself for about an hour and then was ready to get up.

Dylan and I have this deal where one of us gets up early with the baby on Saturday, and the other one gets up early on Sunday. Although it usually turns out to be me both days since he's just too tired to get up. He gets to choose which day he wants, and inevitably he chooses Sunday since we usually stay up late on Friday nights. I've been trying to teach him the wisdom of going to bed at a decent time since Shay doesn't care when we go to bed. He hasn't quite gotten the concept, yet.

With Dylan's Christmas bonus he managed to talk me into getting a new TV. And not just any TV, this thing is a 50" Plasma flatscreen HDTV with all kinds of neat features blah, blah, blah. I went along with it since it was money we weren't expecting to get and since he promised to go off soda and fast food for a year. He's kept his end of the bargain, and Fry's Electronics is about to keep their end. Yes, after 2 months of being on backorder, the TV is on its way to us. I didn't think too much of it until we went to Best Buy to "visit" the TV. I finally saw it and it's HUGE. Seriously, just think about 50". That's just over 4 feet on the diagonal! This thing is enormous. We don't have that huge of a living room and this thing is going to DOMINATE. What was I thinking letting Dylan pick out his dream TV? Have I ever met Dylan? Apparently not.

Whatever. I guess "24" will be much different now. And Heroes and Battlestar Galactica...I just keep thinking about Farenheight 451 where the wife had an entire wall that was a TV and her soap operas were interactive. I don't think we're too far away from that in this household.

By the way, I'm feeling better. Talk about a horrible 2-3 weeks there. But I think the worst is over...I hope so anyway.
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I've been hit with a cold + morning sickness and I feel awful. Seamus is being such a good boy...watching cartoons and playing with his toys while I snooze on the couch. I'm totally exhausted most of the time, which is pretty normal for where I am in the pregnancy. The baby's heart is beating now and actually pumping blood. It's about the size of a grain of rice. If I was a marsupial the birth would happen about now, and the tiny rice baby would crawl into a pouch on my belly to live for a few years. Alas, I am not a marsupial. The baby is also forming elbows and knees on its legs and arms. Yay!

While I have a little energy I'll blog for posterity's sake.

Seamus having a great time at Mimi and Poppa's at Christmas.

We had a great visit with Scott. We most just hung around the house catching up on our favorite shows and eating at all our favorite places (Tucanos, Kneaders, Happy Sumo, etc.). Luckily we didn't get sick until after Scott left, so that's a plus. Maybe it was all the rich food.

At Tucanos.

We also had a great blue-beta (the online forum that we're a part of) party here at the house. Everyone had a great time, as indicated by the fact that even though the party started at 7 pm, most people left at about 2 am, and some die hards stayed until 4 am! I think if we'd just kept the party going people might have moved in permanently. :)

We played mafia and psychologist and Texas hold 'em and Taboo and Settlers of Catan and bunches of other games. It was really great to meet people who we've been chatting with online, and to actually put faces with online personalities. Scott's chili was awesome all over again and the 15-20 guests went through 10 quarts of it like it was nothing!

I think that's got to be it for now. I need to go lie down again. I have the feeling that this one is going to be a girl, as I don't remember having this much trouble with Seamus. I've heard girl pregnancies are harder... I'll have to go check back posts on this blog to see if I mentioned any serious hardships...
Look up at the header, notice anything new? Yup, we're having another little one, probably in late August, early September! We're totally excited for our second bundle of joy to join our family!!

We found out on Christmas Eve that we were expecting again and we couldn't have wished for a better present this Christmas. Dylan has a fantasic job with great insurance, and Seamus is old enough now to help out with a new baby (at least he will be in September).

This pregnancy is going much better than my last one. Maybe because this one is planned so I'm less stressed, or maybe because I don't have to work so I have more time to focus on myself and staying healthy for the little one. All in all, it's a great situation and we're really excited to see what gender we'll be getting.

Dylan's oldest sister just had twins: a boy and girl, and his other sister is currently pregnant with twin girls. The running family joke is that we're next, and that we'll be having at least two babies, if not more. So, we'll see.
