To continue with my blogger-catch-up day I need to post one more thing. If you follow my blog you know that today was the day that we find out the gender of our new baby who is due on Sept 1st. I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night because I was so excited. Also because Dylan had the flu and was snoring really loudly all night, but mostly the excited thing. I woke up early and got ready, then got Shay ready while Dylan prepared for work. He went in late today so he could join us at the doctor's office. I managed to get the first ultrasound appointment of the day so we wouldn't have to wait in line behind anyone else. The doctor's offices (at least mine) are starting to record the ultrasound on a DVD for $5 instead of on VHS tapes. I'm so glad. It's a lot easier to have the recording digital so that we can take screen-shots and upload it for people on the internet instead of trying to pull it off of a tape. So that's what we did.

Everyone always asks you "So, what do you want? A boy or a girl?" The smart parents just smile and say "We just want a healthy baby." because in reality that's the truth. You'll love whatever gender it is so much and having a healthy baby just adds to the joy. I've been thinking about what I wanted and I decided that either gender would be great (convenient, eh?). A boy for Shay to play T-ball with and roll around on the floor with and double date with. Or a girl for me to cuddle and dress up and love. Either one would have been fine with me.

You're probably wondering what we're going to have. Well, without further ado I guess it's time to spill the beans. We're going to have a little girl! Our little Abigail Thurston will be here in September and we're so excited to welcome her into our family. We're practicing saying "Abby" with Shay. He's already great at it. So hooray! A little girl. Now all we need to do is come up with a middle name. Thoughts?

PS: In other news, Dylan's sister had her twin girls on Saturday night. Both were over 5 pounds and are doing great! We're so excited for them, congrats Koons!!!
We got an email from BYU a few weeks ago about a Cosmo Easter Egg Hunt at the BYU baseball field. Seamus loves Cosmo. We've gone to a few BYU baseball games and all this kid wants to do is watch Cosmo. It's a love/hate relationship, though, because he's a little afraid of Cosmo as well. He doesn't really want to be near him, just watch him from afar. We have a Cosmo book and a Cosmo jacket. He's always asking to go to "Cosmo games", which are baseball games.

So it was a no-brainer to take Shay to the baseball field and let him run around collecting candy and eggs with Cosmo. Unfortunately, it was such a no-brainer that lots of other parents decided to come, too.

There were way more kids than were expected. The event staff only had enough candy for about 30% of the kids. They had divided the field up into 0-2 year olds, 3-8 year olds, and 8+ year olds. What they neglected to do was to put a candy limit on the kids. The first ones on the field picked up all of the candy (10 pieces apiece at least) and so by the time we got onto the field it had been picked clean. So sad. I mentioned to one of the moms how lucky her son was to get some candy and she was nice enough to give Shay a piece. He and I took turns throwing that one piece of candy on the grass and picking it up.

Amazingly enough, Seamus didn't care. He was so excited about seeing Cosmo and getting one Tootsie Roll that he didn't realize he'd missed out. I think I was more upset than he was. The staff promised to have more candy next year. In my opinion, when they saw how many kids were lined up outside the gates they should have sent someone two blocks away to grab a ton more candy. Oh well. What a great kid I have!!

This year I had my Activity Days girls make some Arnold Chocolate-Peanut Butter Easter Eggs (patent pending) for Easter. My mom came to the activity to help, especially with the decorating. She was awesome! Part of the fun was having Seamus help us make a few "example eggs" ahead of time.

First he helped us organize the icing.

Then he helped his Gran decorate the eggs with leaves.

Next we put on flowers.

Then we eat!

We had a great time making these eggs and even more fun eating them. My AD girls loved them and took a bunch home to their families. Even my Downs Syndrome girl was able to make a few to take home (with the help of her mother and me). I'm sort of glad the eggs are gone, though, we were all on a sugar high for a few days with these eggs just sitting around. Delicious, but deadly.
Blogger and I have been having issues. I've been trying to post some Easter pictures but I must be doing something wrong because I end up on a blank page instead of a "posted" page. I'll keep trying though. The "a" post was a test to see if my blog was broken. Then blogger wouldn't log me back on so I could modify it.

I had my 4.5 month baby check-up yesterday and got a clean bill of health. I've only gained 5 pounds so far and my blood pressure is textbook perfect. All in all, a good report. That's pretty much it for new things with me.

Seamus stuff: (which is what you really read this blog for anyway)
-His new term for cars is "Vroom, vroom, beep, beep, Look Out!!!" I have no idea where the "look out" part came from. Maybe Dylan says it while driving. :)
-During General Conference he kept pointing at the GAs sitting behind the speaker and saying "boo!". It took me awhile to figure out that the GAs sitting in the dark looked like ghosts to him and that's what ghosts say.
-We're teaching him how to pray and although he doesn't usually get all or even most of the words out, his favorite one is Amen! Which he says as "Mee-mem!" He waits the whole prayer to say it and practically shouts it at the right time.
-He likes to tickle the baby in my tummy by poking my belly button, and he's convinced that he has a baby in his tummy as well.

In the interest of keeping him busy outside (and out of the street) we've gotten a few new outdoor toys. You can see his favorite one here. He calls it his "mo-mer".

He helps us to "mow" the grass, the concrete, the bushes, and anything else he can get his mo-mer on.

As much as he loves baths, he hates showers. Every so often we try to stick him into one with me or Dylan to clean him up before church or the like. Little kids get so dirty so quickly. They're like magnets for the dirt. I have no idea what is constantly on his face, but I'll turn around after cleaning him off and he's messy again. Anyway, instead of the commitment of a bath--which for him is at least 1/2 an hour--we'd like to try the shower method. Seamus, on the other hand, doesn't. At least not usually.

The other day after Dylan finished his shower, Seamus managed to get undressed all by himself and came and found me. He led me to the shower and asked for "water". So I turned it on and he played in there for about 3 minutes. It's a start, at least. Forgive the slight nudity of the pictures. Having him get into the shower voluntarily was as novel as if he sprouted wings and flew around the living room. We got a little carried away.
